I posted earlier in the year that I was increasingly partial to a whisky these days, and I’ve been gradually making my way through the bottles I brought back from Malaysia. I don’t drink too much, probably making my way through at most a bottle a month.
I’ve been trying to put off some of the ones I’m more interested in until last, and I think I’ve made the right move. I’ve just cracked open an Old Pulteney, which was a gift from my landlord a couple of years ago and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
The tasting notes talk of honey and caramel – certainly you can smell the honey before you drink it. It has that lovely warming taste that some whisky has – it’s almost like a brandy in that regard, I suppose. The taste isn’t overwhelming, and it’s definitely not a peaty whisky like the Bunnahabain or Laphroaig.
It’s the perfect whisky to enjoy on these dark Autumnal nights!
