Planking

I’ve been offline the last few days as I have been helping my parents move house. This isn’t an unusual thing as they’ve moved house many times, often with my brother and I in tow. This time, I had my wife with me and we were determined to make sure that everything went ok.

After a hard day’s work yesterday, we were all sat in the living room when my son lay face down on the floor. I asked him what he was doing, and my wife said that he was planking, and that it was good for him.

Not to be outdone, and conscious that I had not done any of my exercises for a few days, I thought I’d try it.

I managed thirty seconds the first time and my wife set me the goal of a minute. After about ten minutes I gave it another shot and this time I lasted 90 seconds, so smashed her target for me.

I’ve done it a few times since, and I can feel it pulling my stomach muscles as well as my calves. It’s another thing to add to my growing number of exercises that I’m doing currently.

I went through my entire routine tonight, consisting of 40 Dumbbell curls, 40 dumbbell rows and 40 shoulder presses. I also did 152 sit-ups, 27 push-ups and 45 squats.

My body complained bitterly that I hadn’t exercised for a few days, but I pushed through. It’s good to be back into my exercise pattern – it’ll kick off tomorrow properly, as I’ll do weights in the morning and evening, and will also do 60 consecutive sit-ups.
