I don’t really tend to get surprises much these days. Not because I don’t enjoy them, but usually because I think things through too much.
However, yesterday I did get a surprise and it was one that is didn’t expect to get at all, which made it all the better.
That surprise is going to fix a few things in our immediate future, and make a few things a bit more bearable in the short term.
It has had a knock on effect in that it’s made all my hard work this year worth it, and has inspired me to keep pushing onwards.
This morning saw me crank out 88 sit-ups in my normal morning exercise routine. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep my sit-ups in a reasonable time window in my morning routine. I’m going to have to make some adjustments if I am to stick to the times I set myself each morning.
One thing I’m going to have to do is force myself to not weigh in every day – that takes up a good five minutes each morning, and with my sit-ups approaching a high number, I’m better off focusing on them rather than waiting for the Wii U to load or for the Wii Fit to start up.
If I said I was enjoying the sit-ups then I’d probably be lying – I feel like I’m getting tired earlier each morning, although I seemed to get a second wind this morning when I hit the 60 mark. That was a bit of a surprise as up until then I had been flagging and then suddenly I picked up again and went on to complete my routine.
Thinking about it, I didn’t really feel much of the ache I’ve been getting afterwards. I’m usually a bit wobbly after I’ve done my sit-ups, but whether that’s improving or my mind was elsewhere, I don’t honestly know. Still, a faster recovery time is no bad thing, particularly as I tend to launch straight into the weights afterwards.
With my sit-ups, I think I’m at the stage now where I could do with something to help keep my feet in place. I find myself constantly shifting during each set, and I have to shuffle back down at the end of the sets. Having something to keep me in place wouldn’t be a bad thing, but it’s not high up on my list of priorities right now.
Still – I am in a much better place physically and mentally right now – I’ve just got to keep this up to get rid of the remaining weight and then I can move onto my general fitness through cycling and different weight exercises.
It’s all good!
