Water everywhere

Part of the diet that I’m doing requires me to drink a heck of a lot of water – between three and four litres a day.

Fortunately this isn’t as big a problem as it might sound as I’ve always been one to drink water through the day, and even now I often have two glasses on my desk to keep me going.

The downside is that I need to pee a fair amount during the day, making long meetings somewhat of a pain if I need to go. That’s a small downside, though, to the benefits I’m getting from losing this weight. I’ve now dropped over a stone since I started over two weeks ago.

Something else that I’ve been doing since the start of the diet is weighing myself daily to evaluate progress. This has been a good motivator as I’ve seen the scales drop each day since I started – even when the pound difference isn’t big enough to move down a notch, I can still see an appreciable difference in my BMI which is just hovering around the 26 level. For those of you who don’t know, this is now in the mildly overweight bracket and very close to the ideal weight BMI bracket of 25 and under. My BMI at the start of all this was a notch over 30, so you can start to appreciate how much has changed.

But, back to the drinking water business – one of the things I’ve tried to do to help me keep an eye on my water intake is to buy a two litre bottle of water every few days and ensure I’m downing it twice (obviously refilling it once I’ve finished the first two litres). By doing this, I can make sure that I’m getting the amount of water that I need – there’s no ambiguity in that.

My final thought – I wore a suit jacket for the first time last Friday – it’s a suit jacket that I’ve not worn for a while, and I always had a comfortable fit – not tight, but I could do the buttons up just about.

Now, the jacket is hanging off me – I’ve lost enough weight to make the jacket look rather large, something which as rather a shock to me when I looked in the mirror at work to see.

Plan is to get down to 34″ waist and a comfortable 16.5″ collar, along with (hopefully) a large T shirt size.

If I keep going the way I’m going then it’s certainly possible by the end of this year.
